Michael Caputo, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who counsels those dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and live transitions. He also specializes in couples counseling and men's issues. He has worked with families and young people (teenagers, college-age, young adult) and those struggling with difficult life transitions. He is a collaborative and client-centered therapist who stresses values and strengths. He primarily uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as a foundational model, which concentrates on building psychological flexibility. This includes approaches aimed at couples (INTERact) and teenagers (DNAv). Mike will also lean on other styles of therapy such as systems-based, DBT and narrative. In the end, Mike will work with approaches that meet the needs of the client(s).

I have worked as a therapist since 2019 after a nearly 30-year career in journalism. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in New York and Georgia, I find it a privilege to help people make meaning through understanding their self-stories, discovering how to deal with what is blocking meaningful change and by finding or rediscovering their values.
I bring energy, experience and, most importantly, empathy and understanding to this work.
I counsel individuals, couples, families and groups and have also been a supervisor of therapists in training at Mercer University. I am also a member of a member of American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and the Association of Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS).
I’m married and have two adult children. In my free time I enjoy reading, running and playing guitar.
